Project Name: Quest Fitness Center
Built: 2009

Building use: Industrial space converted into full service fitness center featuring indoor pool, cardio, aerobics, and yoga studio.

Construction: Complete Renovation – Design Build

Remarks: Fast track project done in 5 months including demolition, extensive under slab utilities and indoor pool system. HVAC included high efficiency dehumidification equipment qualifing for State energy rebates. Locker rooms with sauna, private showers and a private family changing room.

Project Name: The Cottages at Hidden Pond - www.hiddenpondmaine.com Built: 2008 Building use: Hotel facility built on 60 acres -Phase 1 included 14, two bedroom units, Lodge with pool, Fitness building and a farm. Phase 2 is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2010 Type of construction: New Prefab and stick built, full foundations tied to ledge. Remarks: Design Build / Open Book Complete road system with utilities built to service the proposed 26 units and support buildings. Extensive landscaping with an actual roducing garden and walking paths Units include two story colonials, capes and T-capes. Each unit has gas fireplace, full kitchen, outside howers and screened in porches, Lodge includes double sided fireplace, prep-kitchen, check-in and pool.

Project Name: Thornton Academy Middle School Built: 2006 Building use: Thornton Academy Middle School covers 6th thru 8th, with modern classrooms, Science Room/Greenhouse, Admin. offices, storage and Multi-use Cafeteria and serve kitchen. Type of Construction: Complete renovation of outdated Industrial Arts and Shop building built in the early 60’s. Remarks: Design Build / Open Book New façade and entrance. 85% of buildings interior was removed. Completely new and colorful finishes. Complete new plumbing, ventilation, heating and sprinkler systems. New electrical service and wiring throughout.
Project Name: Shape Drive Medical, LLC Built: 2008 Tenant: Medical Group Associates Building use: 28,000 sf Medical Office with 2nd floor mezzanine Type of construction: Renovation / Addition - Extensive interior and exterior work. Change of use from Industrial manufacturing to Medical Offices Remarks: Design Build / Open Book This building was originally a 34,000 sf tennis facility in the 70’s. In the early 80’s, 64,000 sf was added and the building was changed to industrial. In 2007 the building was purchased by Shape Drive Medical, LLC who’s vision was to convert the 100K building into the Maine Health & Wellness Medical Campus. The exterior and interior renovation of the “tennis court” part of the building was the first phase of the this conversion. Access to Medical Group’s offices and 2nd floor offices go thru the new tower which houses the 1st of two elevators planned for this project. Phase 2 has started.
Rapid Ray’s – Saco, Maine: A Landmark in downtown Saco for more than 50 years, Rapid Ray’s started out as a lunch van in the early 50’s. Over the years the vans got bigger and bigger until, in 1986 a custom designed fast food restaurant on a confined in-town site while providing for continued use of existing facility during construction. “A landmark building for a landmark establishment”.
China House – Saco, Maine: The original China House was level by fire. The City and Owner wanted something completely different. Design/Build Open Book was the answer. The building design, planning board approval and construction of a new 4,700 sf restaurant including the extensive commercial kitchen, increased seating, plumbing, HVAC, Electrical and a complete sprinkler system was completed as a Design Build project.
VIP Discount Auto Parts – Scarborough, Maine: Originally Happy Wheels, the owner contracted with Trades Center in 1990, to a Design/Build renovated the 20,000 foot space to become Bob’s Discount. In 1996 the owner again contracted with Trades Center to renovate the space for VIP Discount Auto Parts. The work included a multi-car drive thru maintenance bay, extensive exterior changes and adapting the existing roof structure and slope for the VIP entrance.
5 Points Shopping Center – Biddeford, Maine: Starting in 2005, Trades Center has been working with the new owner to revitalize this complex. In addition to the façade upgrade which included a 40’ clock tower, the Goodwill Store included a structural addition and complete interior renovation and matching façade. Trades Center also renovated spaces for Biddeford Pizza and Sears, along with earlier work at Planet Fitness, Sherwin Williams and Cines 8 Theater.
Peoples Choice Credit Union – Sanford Branch: Similar to the Wells Branch, also built by Trades Center, this 2,922 sf bank branch has 3 drive thrus, an ATM , night drop, and vault system. Due to the nature of the site a series of retention ponds, swales and underground storm water containment was used to control water run off. Ceramic tile and carpeting, wood wainscot paneling and a fireplace accents the interior. This was a Design/Build Open Book project.
Southern Maine Oral Surgery – Windham, Me: Having worked with SMOMS before building the Biddeford office, the Design/Build Open Book process was used again. This time a turn key project in Windham. This 5,200 sf oral surgery office is on a concrete bar joist floor system over a full storage basement. The surgical suites, labs and recovery areas are supported by med gases, vacuum and plumbing, along with advanced mechanical and electrical services.
